athousandvoicestalk:

I wasn’t planning on posting anything else related to R.E.M. (out of exhaustion), but my inner fan pulled my ear and demanded that I send this one out. Jay Ferguson is a member of Sloan.

The Good in Everyone Sloan

Last night, I went to the Bowery Ballroom in Manhattan to see Sloan. They were terrific… and the place (which isn’t small) was about half-filled. I’m tempted to make a joke about New Yorkers having no appreciation of Canadian culture, but I know the New Pornographers draw much larger crowds, because I’ve been in them. But, anyway, Sloan gave us their all and were on fire. This is one of the songs they played.

I didn’t know anything about the second opening act, You Am I (from Australia), but I was impressed with their funny stage presence and excellent showmanship. The songs - well, maybe not so much, but I can give them another listen.
